Each patient’s first visit starts with a Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). This is a series of ten movement tests designed to assess fundamental patterns of movement such as bending and squatting in those with known musculoskeletal pain.
This practice helps the physiotherapist to identify pain and impairments that may seem unrelated to the patient’s main musculoskeletal complaint, but which actually contribute to the associated disability. This concept is known as regional interdependence.
SFMA is a new approach to the treatment of pain and dysfunction and it is fully integrated into Agility Physiotherapy.
